Vision statement:
Dannevirke Community Hospital provides high quality health services to the Dannevirke and Tararua region.

Dannevirke Community Hospital is promoted as a centre which enhances the health and welfare of all sectors of the community

Services:
This modern hospital provides 8 GP beds, is a maternity facility (3 beds), has an x-ray service and provides ultrasound service 2 days per week. All the local GP’s provide care for their own patients and are on a roster system for caring for inpatients after hours. An afterhours telephone triage system is provided by the hospital.

The Tararua Health Group was established in April 2009. This private company comprises three GP practice sites and a community hospital located in Southern Hawkes Bay with the sites based in Dannevirke and Pahiatua. The range of services provided by the group encompass GP primary healthcare, practice nursing, community nursing, hospital, maternity and radiology services. The organisation employs up to 100 staff, including GP’s, registered nurses, radiographers, midwives and a sonographer. There are a range of support staff providing business and quality systems to the overall organisation.

This organisation uses leading-edge technology to support the provision of their services. Tararua Health Group has invested in fibre optic cables to link the sites for the high speed transmission of digital x-rays. The software is a Medtech supported framework and patient records from all four sites are integrated, thereby allowing a borderless sharing of information amongst health providers. Clinical excellence is the cornerstone of the service and staff from within the organisation network effectively on a district and regional-wide basis for clinical governance. A range of tertiary training institutes have agreements for the placement of students (GP’s, nurses, midwives) within our rural teaching programme.
