Staff and qualifications:
Counselling staff hold at minimum a certificate in counselling and the three males have all been working at Manline for at least ten years. They are members of NZAC &/or NZVPA
We believe that Manline services are unique in that regionally we are the only specialized agency offering facilitated groups where men can explore issues in their lives.
Our programmes are designed to be educational, preventative, developmental and rehabilitative. We promote a non-violent lifestyle and provide support and encouragement for men who wish to change the way they live their lives.
MANLINE TELEPHONE SERVICE:
The telephone service is available 5 days a week for counselling, support & information during normal office hours.
The phones are answered by male staff members who are trained to help men find their own solutions to their problems.
We can offer a listening ear if you have a problem with
-Being a father
-Anger & violence
-Separation & divorce
-Being hurt sexually or physically
If we can't help we will be able to put you in touch with someone who can
STOPPING VIOLENCE/ANGER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM.
It is a program designed to help men identify both anger and violence and understand the difference between them.
It is for men who find it hard to feel angry without becoming violent
It is for men who have trouble recognizing and expressing their anger.
It is for any man who wants to give up 'power and control tactics' and establish healthy relationships with other men, women and children in his life.

violence is a behaviour that anyone can learn and unlearn.
A violent relationship is defined as any relationship in which one person has become frightened by the other.
MEN'S THERAPY / SELF CHANGE GROUPS:
Currently we have one group operating every week. It runs from 7pm till 10pm in the evening and has a maximum of twelve men in the group. This group offers a place for men to explore issues in their lives in a safe supportive environment.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY / COUNSELLING:
Individual work may benefit men who are feeling unable to cope with things in their world and require counselling on a one to one basis.
LISTENING & COMMUNICATION SKILLS GROUP:
This course is designed to teach basic listening and communication skills and may help men be assertive rather than aggressive.
A group for men who want to be better dads to their children. We will look at our own fathering and exploring what it was like for you as a son, how you would have liked it to be, how you want it to be the same / different for your children.
