As the Youth Coordinator my role is to offer support and advocacy for youth under the age of 25yrs who have diabetes.
I organise social activities for families with children/youth who have diabetes.  In the past year some of these have included go-karting at Daytona, ten-pin bowling, an overnight stay at the Wellington Zoo etc.
Twice a year the Trust organises camps, a Family camp and a Youth Camp.  The Youth camp is a camp for children with diabetes between the ages of 8-13yrs.  The Youth camp is overseen by a medical team and the children partake in rigorous activities whilst learning how to better self manage their diabetes all within the context of having fun!
We also hold support meetings regularly throughout the MidCentral district whereby parents of children with diabetes can get to meet others who are in a similar situation and socialise and network.
If any of these activities appeal to you and your family please feel free to contact me. I am also available to do home visits.
I look forward to meeting you and your family.
